You’ll be familiar with many of the names on this list. But did you know that all these famous folk are from New Mexico? Here are 11 celebrities who hail from the Land of Enchantment.

1. Neil Patrick Harris (Actor)

Neil Patrick Harris was born in Albuquerque. As a child, he lived in Ruidoso, a town in the southern half of the state, before returning to Albuquerque. He is best known as the star of “Doogie Howser, M.D,” for his role in “How I Met Your Mother,” and also as a stage performer.


2. Demi Moore (Actress)

The actress, who hails from Roswell, has starred in many high-profile films including “Ghost,” “A Few Good Men,” and “Indecent Proposal.”


3. Demi Lovato (Actress & Singer)

Demi (short for Demetria) Lovato was born in Albuquerque. The child star shot to fame following her roles on the Disney Channel, her collaboration with the Jonas Brothers, and subsequently as a solo artist.


4. Holly Holm (MMA)

“Preacher’s daughter, Holly Holm, was born in Albuquerque and initially got into fighting through her interest in aerobics!”


5. John Denver (singer/songwriter)

Although Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. (now known as John Denver) hailed from Roswell, he was born into a military family that moved a lot. This best-selling artist’s music was successful on both pop and country charts.


6. Adrian Grenier (Actor)

This Santa Fe born actor and producer is best known for his work on “Entourage.”


7. Freddy Prince Jr. (Actor)

Although he was born in Los Angeles, Freddie Prinze, Jr. spent his early years in New Mexico and graduated from La Cueva High School in Albuquerque.


8. William Hanna (animator/cartoon artist)

“Tom and Jerry,” “Yogi Bear,” “Scooby-Doo Where Are You?,” “The Flintstones.” Yes, that Hanna. Born in the village of Melrose, which is located between Fort Sumner and Clovis, William Hanna went on to win seven Academy Awards and eight Emmys with his partner, Barbera.


9. Conrad Hilton (entrepreneur)

Conrad Hilton, was born in San Antonio, New Mexico, on Christmas Day in 1887—when New Mexico was still just a U.S. Territory. Although Hilton sustained significant financial losses during the Great Depression, he was able to grow his hotel business into one of the biggest and best known in the world.
