PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico University volleyball senior Andrea Aguilarpicked up the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after her historic performance this past weekend. The Greyhounds went 2-0, earning victories over UT Permian Basin and West Texas A&M, marking the third-straight season ENMU knocked off the Lady Buffs in Portales.

Aguilar was an anchor for the Greyhound defense this past week, helping ENMU to a pair of wins against UT Permian Basin and West Texas A&M. The Clovis, NM, product recorded 36 digs in the Hounds’ four-set win over WT, the second-most in a four-set match and fifth-most in team history. Additionally, she recorded a perfect 1.000 reception percentage over 30 attempts and also racked up five aces.

The LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year needs 27 digs to move into second place on the all-time list, passing Irma Cobos’ mark of 1,653.
