Eastern New Mexico University volleyball senior Andrea Aguilar was named the Lone Star Conference’s Libero of the Year and garnered First Team All-Conference accolades the league office announced on Wednesday. Aguilar is the first player in program history to earn the award from the LSC and it marks the second-time in as many seasons the Hounds brought home a Player of the Year award (Lauren Frye, Offensive Player of the Year). Senior Brooklyn Biel (All-LSC Second Team) and sophomore Sarah Tuioti-Mariner (Honorable Mention All-LSC) joined Aguilar on the All-Conference teams.

“I’m proud of Andrea, Brooklyn and Sarah,” ENMU Head Coach Sia Poyer said. “It’s a testament to their hard work. The LSC is so deep in talented players, to make one of the All-Conference teams is tough and for Andrea to be Libero of the Year is certainly something special.”

Aguilar racked up 349 digs and averaged 4.99 digs/set in league play to earn First Team All-Conference recognition. With 1,871 career digs, the Clovis native is 59 shy of Caitlin Murphy’s all-time program record. The senior needs 15 digs to pass her personal single-season best of 533, set last year.

Senior Brooklyn Biel finished the conference season with the ninth-best hitting percentage in league play, swinging at a .282 clip. The Laveen, Ariz., native led the team with 187 kills in LSC play and 303 kills overall. Additionally, Biel had 82.0 blocks on the year to climb into the top-10 in program history.

Sophomore Sarah Tuioti-Mariner is tied for the team lead with seven double-doubles and ranks second for the club with 298 kills and 216 digs. The Corona, Calif., native has seen a breakout campaign in her second season with the Hounds, more than doubling her kill total from a season ago.

The Hounds open up the LSC Tournament on Thursday with a matchup against 15th-ranked Tarleton State. First serve is tabbed for 6:30 p.m. in Stephenville, Texas.
