Bertoldo Sepulveda-Barraza October 22, 1953 ~ January 26, 2026 (age 72)

     Funeral services for Bertoldo Sepulveda, 72, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Jose Rios, Jesus Lopez, David Sepulveda, Ivan Sepulveda, Ramon Sepulveda and Michael Sepulveda serving as pallbearers.

Bertoldo Sepulveda was born on October 22, 1953, in Durango, Mexico, to the home of Maria Dolores (Barraza) and Miguel Sepulveda and passed away on January 26, 2026, in Portales.

Bertoldo grew up Mexico and worked on the farm with all of his family.  He later worked in the oil fields in Lovington for six or seven years until he retired.  Bertoldo met Maira Rios in 2010, and they were married on March 31, 2015, in Lovington.  They have been inseparable since the day they met.  He watched all of his children as they were brought into the world.  He would take his children and pick them up from school every day.  Bertoldo was very active working in his garden, and he loved to make menudo and bunuelos during the holidays.  He made sure that his family was always taken care of.  He had a great sense of humor even while he was struggling with cancer.  He was a very loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend and he will be greatly missed.

Bertoldo was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Reina Sepulveda.

Survivors include his wife, Maira Rios; his sons, Jose Rios, David Sepulveda, Ivan Sepulveda and Jairo Sepulveda; a daughter, Reyna Sepulveda; brothers, Ramon Sepulveda, Humberto Sepulveda and Simon Sepulveda; sisters, Nicanor Sepulveda, Guadalupe Arellanes and Soccorro Sepulveda; his brothers-in-law, Jesus Lopez, Ruben Rios, Jorge Rios and Adrian Rios; his mother-in-law, Maria Nunez; nephews, Jeremiah Urias, Carlos Payan, Michael Arellanes, Francisco Payan, Miguel Vega, Hector Acuna, Jesus Ray Lopez, Martin Payan, Ramon Acuna, Abel Lopez, Matthew Lopez and Luis Calderon Sepulveda; nieces, Guadalupe Bolivar, Reyna Nunez, Araceli Cano, Maria Luisa Sepulveda, Carmen Bolivar, Julia Herrera, Abigail Lopez and Angeles Acuna; cousins, Patricio Sepulveda, Mary Sepulveda and Marina Payan, and his friend, Crispin Nunez.
