Bobbie Wayne Essary was born Mar. 21, 1941 in Baileyboro, TX to the home of Clara “Opal” (McCarty) and Carl Robert Essary, and passed from this life on Aug. 13, 2026.  Mr. Essary’s early life was spent in the Floyd Community.  He graduated from the Floyd High School in 1959.  For several years he worked as a brakeman on the Santa Fe Railroad.  After leaving the railroad he began doing custom hay harvesting and farming in New Mexico and Arizona.  In the late 1980’s he began farming in the Clovis area, and then in 1997 he moved to El Frida, AZ.  He farmed there until 2004 when he moved to Truth or Consequences, NM.  He later moved to Bluff Dale, TX, but in 2015, he moved to Capitan, NM where the climate was more to his liking.

On July 15, 1961 he was married to Jerri Santo.  His wife passed away in 2010.  On June 29, 2022 he was married to Janice Bailey.  Mr. Essary enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he was best known for his stories.  Some of his stories were true experiences, but many of them were tall tales or just plain fun.

He is survived by his wife, Janice of their home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Chuck Essary of Tucumcari, NM, Larry Ray and Pamela Essary and Bobby Miles and Allana Essary of El Frida, AZ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Jerry Campbell of Bluff Dale, TX and Cheri and J. D. Young of Beeville, TX; 15 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Linda Essary and Herschell and Lyda Essary of Floyd, NM.  In addition to his wife Jerri, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joe Essary and two sisters, Carlene Essary and Shirley Kryder.
