Obituary

Buddy Lee Stacy was born May 12, 1941, in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Evelyn Mae (Whitehead) and Henry Ernest Stacy and died at his home on the evening of Nov. 20, 2021 at the age of 80.  The family moved to Portales when he was a child, and he graduated from Portales High School in 1959.  He was married to Orlena Faye Wilcox, and the couple had a son together before later divorcing.  Mr. Stacy had a small engine repair shop in Portales for several years.  He also did work as a general handyman.  For a number of years he was employed by A&M, and was involved in the construction of a number local metal buildings.  His last place of employment was as a security guard for the Coke plant in Portales.

Mr. Stacy had recently accepted Christ as his savior, and was baptized at his home by Bro. Brad Morgan.  Mr. Stacy always liked to work on small engines, and was a collector of tools of all sorts.  Some of those tools he really didn’t have a need for, and never even used them.  He also watching the Fox News Channel.  He loved cats and dogs.  His son brought cats home to catch mice, but Mr. Stacy defeated that purpose by feeding the cats so well that they lost interest in the mice.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Jenenia Stacy of Portales; three grandchildren, Brice Stacy, Megan Stacy and Hannah (Gavin) Victor; one great-grandchild is expected; a brother, Alvin Stacy (Barbara) of Clovis; and two sisters, Bonita Cherry and Carol Summers (William) both of Clovis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Rick Stacy and a daughter, Annette Stacy, three brothers, Calvin Grifin and Mike Griffin and another brother that died as a small child, a sister, Brenda Griffin and by a grandchild, Angel Leebeth Stacy that died in 1999, Also a brother-in-law Jessie Cherry.
