This life is pretty amazing!  34 seasons ago Coach and I began this journey that has lead us through 9 schools, 9 moves, 2 of our own children, hundreds of  “bonus kids,” and a lot of time on our knees asking God, “What’s next?”  I truly love this life being a coach’s wife with the highs and lows, the excitement of success, and the character-building of defeat.  We win or we learn, all of us — the athletes, the coaches and the coaches’ wives.
I am very lucky to have a kind and caring husband/coach who truly has the best interest of your student athletes in his heart and who is very good to include me in his coaching life.  I also feel lucky just generally to like sports; if it’s a competition, I’m there!  It’s not all easy; I spend a lot of time with “my coach” away.  Coach’s wives learn very quickly to do things on their own; I can take care of the vehicles, small home repairs, doctor’s appointments, mowing the yards, and still have locker signs for the field house before the game.  My kids and I did a lot of following the bus, sitting in the stands in all kinds of weather, and hoping we would have to wait Thanksgiving dinner because that would mean we were in the playoffs.  Sometimes it’s hard, but it’s all worth it when the game ends and I see my coach looking for me to share the victory or mourn the defeat.
Another football season has ended.  The signs and streamers are taken down; the football gear has been packed away for the next season.  Another year saying goodbye to yet another group of great seniors and praying for their success as they move on to the next chapter in their lives.  Another “season” has passed and another group of kids have, hopefully, learned discipline, responsibility, and how to be goal oriented young men.
As we begin this holiday season this is my prayer:  that you are in a positive place and you have friends and family surrounding you.  That your life is blessed every day and you are a blessing to others.   That you are happy and healthy and you also can say, “My life is pretty amazing!”

Merry Christmas – Mrs Pro

Note:  Mike Prokop’s wife, Shirley has been photographing The Rams Football games and sharing the photos and highlights of the games with us all season.  Her photographs have blown us away each and every week.  We will miss Football season and our weekly reports from Shirley.  Thank you for so many reasons to Shirley.
