We are pleased to announce that Curry County has been awarded the 2026 Summer Internship Program!
This is an eight (8) week, paid internship opportunity for high school students (ages 16 through 2026
graduating seniors) designed to help them develop valuable workplace skills, explore potential career
paths, participate in employability training, and gain hands-on professional experience. Interns may
work up to 20 hours per week, with all funding provided through Education at Work.
“I encourage local business owners to partner and reach out and offer your business as a job placement.
This is year we were awarded funding for at least 120 interns and this is a great opportunity for our youth
to gain hands on experience, earn money, and benefit your business with you impacting our future
leaders. A winning opportunity for our community,” said County Manager Pyle.
Curry County placed 98 interns with various local business during the Summer Enrichment Internship
Program in 2025, 104 interns in 2024, 74 interns in 2023, 72 interns in 2022, and 31 interns in 2021. “We
are increasing our efforts this year and wish to employ at least 120 interns at various businesses in our
community. Participation in this program is completely free to business partners. All payroll expenses,
workers’ compensation/workplace injuries, and disciplinary matters are fully managed by the program.
The role of the business is simply to provide mentorship, a safe working environment, and meaningful
exposure to your business setting” said County HR Director Stanfield. “If your business is interested in
hosting one or more interns, please contact our office. You will be making a difference in these students’
lives, and you may even find a long-term employee!”
