Grehlon Easter has been announced as the newest member of the Eastern New Mexico Men’s Basketball squad, Head Coach Brent Owen revealed this afternoon.

Easter comes to Portales after spending two seasons at the Division I California State University – Bakersfield. In two seasons with the Roadrunners, Easter appeared in 43 games and totaled 113 points with 47 rebounds. Last season with CSU-Bakersfield, Easter played in 22 games with 12 starts, playing 13.7 minutes per game thanks to defensive presence.

“Grehlon is a proven college player as he led his 25-win junior college team in scoring before spending time as a starter at the Division I level,” said Owen. “Grehlon has had an interesting career as he was asked to carry the scoring load in junior college and was then asked to be a defensive specialist at the Division I level. We believe he can do both in the Lone Star Conference!” said Owen. “Grehlon has graduated with his bachelor’s degree and will be pursuing his master’s degree during his time at ENMU,”.

Prior to CSU-Bakersfield, the Little Rock, Ark. native appealed his trade at Butler Community College, averaging 15 points per game on 43% shooting from the field. In that lone season with the Grizzles, Easter helped the team reach the NJCAA Region IV Championship Game and earned All-Region and All-Conference Honors. Easter spent his first year of their collegiate journey at Lamar University, playing in 30 games and scoring a season high 10 points against Georgia Tech.

Easter becomes the fifth signing of the 2022 class for ENMU Basketball, joining Jose Murillo, Erasmo Carreon, Dwayne Chester, and Malique Oates. Owen and his staff completed their first season in 2021-22 after the Hounds missed out on the 2020-21 season.
