PORTALES, NM — After a four-game road trip, the Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team will return home. This week’s two home matches mark the beginning of the Greyhounds’ final homestand of the season.

On Wednesday night at 7 p.m., the Eastern will host by West Texas A&M. On Sunday, Midwestern State will visit the Hounds. The contest against WT will be sponsored by Sievers Sports Medicine.

Last time ENMU played at home, they posted a 2-0 victory over Texas Woman’s University. Four of the Greyhounds six losses this season have come by a single goal.

With three goals and a pair of assists, Ariel Lopez leads Eastern in both categories. Kaitlyn Caroand Jaci Sievers are close behind with two goals each. Alejandra Camarillo has played every minute in net for Eastern with has a 1.86 goals-against average.

Spence is in his first season with Eastern.

The Lady Buffs bring a record of 4-2-3 into Wednesday’s matchup with a 2-0-2 mark in Lone Star Conference play. WT earned victories over Texas A&M-Commerce and UT-Permian Basin, recently. They also tied Texas Woman’s and Angelo State in LSC action. . Marlene van Mourik and Noir Hawash each have three goals for the Lady Buffs. Courtney Dippel has a 1/32 goals-against average and .750 save percentage in net

The Greyhounds are 4-14-1 against West Texas A&M with a 3-5 record at home. Eastern’s last win over the Lady Buffs came at home on October 17, 2014. That season saw the Hounds register their first sweep over WT in program history with both games ending in a 1-0 score.

The teams have met eight times in Portales, with the last win coming in 2014. Danielle Caro’s overtime penalty kick propelled Eastern to victory. The Lady Buffs held a 14-10 edge in shots for the game, but Fabienne Wilson registered the shutout. Melissa Moxley scored the only goal in ENMU’s road win, earlier in that season as the Hounds swept the series for the first time.

Last season’s home game was the first-ever meeting at Al Whitehead Field at Greyhound Stadium. Marissa Torres made eight saves for the Greyhounds.

The Mustangs boast a 7-2 record with a 3-1 mark in LSC play, pending this week’s games at St. Edwards and West Texas A&M. Destinee Williamson paced Midwestern State with four goals and a LSC-leading seven assists. Courtney Burnette has a 0.99 goals-against average for MSU with an .850 save percentage.
The Greyhounds are looking for their first win against perennial powerhouse Midwestern State since the 2014 season.

Last season, Eastern played the Mustangs three times and came closest in a 2-1 setback on the road. Midwestern State took a 2-0 lead, but ENMU’s Anniah Galdean tallied her fourth goal of the season with four seconds remaining. Marissa Torres made 10 saves for the Hounds. Midwestern State held a 21-8 edge in total shots in the game
