Game Recap: Men’s Basketball |  | Nicolle Holcomb

The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team hosted Dallas Baptist University in Greyhound Arena on Thursday night. The Hounds and Patriots battled it out in a contest that came down to the wire but ultimately DBU came away with a close 83-77 victory.

Eastern started the contest hot beyond the arc, hitting four threes in a row (18:23-16:42) to jump out to a 14-3 lead. With just under ten minutes remaining, the Hounds stretched that advantage to 29-12.

The Patriots responded with a 17-2 run (8:08-1:04) to tie the game at 33-33 with just over a minute left to play in the half.

ENMU managed to find two buckets with time winding down to take a 37-33 lead heading into halftime.

The Hounds continued to hold the advantage through the majority of the second half but DBU stayed close and began to chip away at the lead.

With 8:11 left on the clock, DBU tied the game up, 58-58, and then went up by as many as nine points with just over a minute remaining.

Eastern managed to steal the ball on DBU inbounds three times in a row and convert baskets off the turnovers to cut the deficit to three points with 34 seconds left.

That was as close as the Hounds would come though, as the Patriots managed to hold on to secure the slim 83-77 win.
