PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University rodeo team had a strong showing this past weekend at the Vernon College Rodeo. Overall, ENMU finished fifth on the men’s side and sixth on the women’s side.

Junior Wesley Gudgell took home the All-Around award on the men’s side after winning the short go and the average in steer wrestling. Additionally, he and his brother Jacob Gudgell were fifth in the team roping. Wesley was the sole point getter for the men’s team that finished fifth among 17 teams.

On the women’s side, junior Emily Logan won the breakaway roping while junior Laney Elkins split first in the goat tying. Senior Celie Vick and junior Megan Burbidge both placed in the first go of the goat tying, but failed to place in the short go or the average.

ENMU returns to action on Oct. 12-14 at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas. For all the latest news on the Greyhounds, follow @ENMUAthletics on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, or visit GoEasternAthletics.com.
