HOBBS, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico track and field team put together a solid showing in the rain shortened Ross Black Invitational hosted by New Mexico Junior College on Friday and Saturday.

Picking up her third event win of the outdoor season, Mercy Rotch took home the gold in the 5000-meter event after crossing the finish line in 18:06.56. Rotich has won at least one event in every meet she’s run in this season, with the previous two wins coming in the 5000-meter event at the West Texas A&M Classic & Multi last week with an 18:05.67 and the other in the 1500-meter race at the Greyhound Open, turning in a time of 5:00.30.

Louis Bolander picked up the first win in his ENMU career with a personal best in the 3000-meter Steeplechase after crossing the finish line in 10:15.12. The mark improved upon his previous best by more than eight seconds after turning in a 10:23.73 in the West Texas A&M Classic & Multi.

In the men’s 400-meter final, Ivar Moinat turned in the third-fastest time in program history after crossing the finish line in 48.41 for fifth overall.

In the women’s 100-meter prelims, Maijah Mathis took seventh with a time of 12.13 while teammate Kandice Miles went stride-for-stride with a 12.14 to take eighth and set the third-fastest 100-meter time in ENMU history.

Teagan Mosely moved up the ENMU record books with a strong showing in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 17.28 for the third-best mark in program history. Mosely now sits only behind Jenna Sievers and current teammate Kayla Stephens in the Greyhound record books in the event.

The Hounds will return to action next week as Eastern will head back to Canyon, Texas to compete in the West Texas A&M Twilight on Saturday, April 20.
