Jane (Millar) Scott October 4, 1940 ~ January 18, 2023 (age 82)

Memorial services for Jane Scott, 82, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sat., Jan.28, 2023 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Don Thomas officiating.  Nicky Millar, Marty Millar, Kendell Buzard, Teri Thatcher, Paula Foley, Joel Green, Vicki Musick, James Naimi, Mark Littlejohn, and Ginger Fowler along with all of her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Margaret Jane Scott, known to everyone as Jane, was born Oct. 4, 1940 in Levelland, TX to the home of Nettie Rebecca (Lowe) and James Guy Millar, and died early on the morning of Jan. 18, 2023 in Clovis, NM.  Jane grew up in the Maple, TX community, and attended school at Three Way.  In Sept. of 1957 in Causey, she was married to Win Askew.  She made her home in Causey until 1973, when the family moved to Portales.  She and Mr. Askew were divorced in 1982, and on Dec. 31, of that year, in Ruidoso, NM she was married to Jim Scott.

Jane and her husband were members of the First United Methodist Church.  She was a very elegant lady, and was always very attentive to her appearance, and retained her youthful appearance throughout he lifetime.  Jane was a meticulous housekeeper, and an excellent cook.  She enjoyed interior decorating projects.  Her personality was very fun loving, and she was always cheerful and loved to laugh and tease her family and friends.  In addition to her own children, Jane had many “adopted children and grandchildren.”  She was a devoted grandmother, and faithfully attended all of their sporting events and activities.

She is survived by Jim Scott, her husband of 40 years; a son, Van Askew of Portales; three daughters and sons-in-law, Exa Kay and Randy Mitchell and Edie Gay and Jason Renfro all of Clovis, and Jan and Blake Bunch of Madison, AL; a step-son and daughter-in-law, David and Rene Scott of Scottsdale, AZ seven grandchildren, Macy (Micah) McCoy, Ky (Rebecca) Mitchell, Marc (Amanda) Haufmann, Rhet Roberts and his companion, Kevin Pate, Kanyon Renfro, Blakeley Bunch and Dylan Bunch; five great-grandchildren, Zander Fleming, Mila Mitchell, Miles Mitchell, Owen Haufmann and Jade McCoy; a brother, Jimmy Millar of Ruidoso, NM; and her former husband, Win Askew of Clovis.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Wayne Millar.
