Eastern New Mexico head football coach Tye Hiatt announced the addition of Jamaal Lewis as the team’s Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator.

“We are ecstatic to have Coach Lewis join our staff,” said Hiatt. “Coach Lewis comes to us from the University of South Alabama where he worked with the offensive line. He has been a part of some great offensive staffs throughout his coaching career and we look forward to his work with our offensive line.”

Lewis joins the Greyhounds from the University of South Alabama, where he worked as an Offensive Graduate Assistant with the Jaguars Division I football program for one season. While in Mobile, Alabama, Lewis assisted with all aspects of coaching the offensive line, along with executing practices, opponent breakdowns, and individual and team meetings.

“I want to start by thanking Coach Hiatt, whose energy and excitement displayed throughout the hiring process made this an easy decision,” said Lewis. “I am beyond excited for the opportunity to work at such a well-respected and historic University as Eastern New Mexico. I look forward to building and developing the Greyhounds with the people of ENMU and Portales!”

Prior to South Alabama, Lewis was an Offensive Line/Run Game/Video Coordinator at Hendrix College from February 2019-March 2021. At the Division III program, Lewis helped with recruiting efforts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as well as building and maintaining the running game in a spread offense. While in Conway, Ark., Lewis oversaw the development of five all-conference sections during the 2019 and 2021 seasons.

Before landing at Hendrix College, Lewis worked as the Tight Ends/Assistant Offensive Line Coach at Northwestern State University. While there Lewis was responsible for the tight ends, and recruiting high school and junior college athletes in the South Houston area.

Lewis was an Offensive Graduate Assistant at Northwestern State before taking the Tight Ends/Assistant Offensive Line role with the Demons. As an Offensive Graduate Assistant, Lewis assisted in coaching the offensive line position and recruiting high school and junior college athletes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Lewis was given his first coaching opportunity at Cisco College as an Offensive Line Coach/Recruiting Coordinator. In his role, Lewis worked with the offensive line and tight ends in a spread offense, managed travel operations for two seasons, and helped in recruiting efforts.

Lewis earned an associate’s degree in general education from Kilgore College in 2010. He then continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Health/Physical Education in 2014. Currently, Lewis is pursuing a Master of Art in Sports Management at the University of South Alabama.
