Mary Esther (Andrews) Frank January 23, 1944 ~ February 26, 2026 (age 82)

Graveside services for Mary Frank, 82, of Portales, will be held at 11:00 AM, Mon., Mar 2, 2026 in the Inez Cemetery with Rev. Steve Smith officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Andrews, David Burress, Dusty Reese, Kyle Burress, Randy Miller and Tyler Frank along with all of her other family members.

Mary Esther Frank, or Miss Mary as she was known in the community, was born Jan. 23, 1944 in Moline, IL to the home of Elsie Cleona (Parmley) and James Adelbert Andrews, and passed from this life on Feb. 26, 2026, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 3 days.  Mrs. Frank grew up in Erie, IL.  As a young adult she was employed at the Buddy L metal toy factory and also at the GE factory in Morrison, IL, where she assembled the timers for various appliances.  On Aug 1, 1970, she was married to Douglas Frank.

In 1980, the family moved to Portales.  For the next 9 years, she and her husband ran a filling station where, among other things she pumped gas.  When her husband established Doug’s Garage, she continued to help him with his business by acting as his “GoFer.”  When she was not helping in the repair shop, she was busy making a comfortable home for her family.  Miss Mary was an amazing wife and mother.  She was always generous in caring for others.  Mrs. Frank enjoyed a good laugh, and her laugh was contagious.  When she had time to relax, she enjoyed collecting butterflies and hummingbirds, and crocheting.  She was also a cat lover.  Her “indoor babies,” Whiskers and Buttons brought her a great deal of joy.

She is survived by Douglas, her husband of more than 55 years; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Natalie Frank of Dora and Hugh Frank of Portales; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and David Burress of Dora; four grandchildren, Tyler Frank, Cherissa (Dusty) Reese, Corie (Randy) Miller and Kyle (Tambra) Burress; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Andrews of Novato, CA; and a sister, Lillian Snyder of Erie, IL.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents, as well as two brothers, James and Billy Andrews and a sister, Linda Jacobs.
