Matt Rush spoke at The Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce luncheon about the Sagamore Wind Project and its potential impact to Roosevelt County.   Matt urges all Roosevelt County residents to get involved and call or e-mail support for the project to the members of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.  (Contact information listed below)

Matt shared the following statistics with the group;

300 construction jobs for 2 years
$44.5 million to Dora Schools over 25 years
$39 million to Portales Schools over 25 years
$43 million to State of NM in gross receipts plus $5,000,000 when the project is completed.
20-30 permanent jobs to Roosevelt County

The biggest benefit is, the NET residential electric rates are estimated to decrease by 2%. Some people are saying that rates will go up however that’s the base rate. NET rate will be a decrease because it’s cheaper to produce the electric from wind.

What we need is for people to call the PRC Commissioners and ask them to vote to make this project a reality. We were told that their issue is not economic benefits but what will it do to rates. Which is a net decrease of an estimated 2%.”
