Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball opens Lone Star Conference play this weekend as the team heads to Texas A&M International University. The Hounds will face the Dustdevils on Friday, December 31 at 4 p.m. The weekend’s road trip originally included a game at Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Sunday, January 2 but that contest has been postponed.

LAST TIME OUT

• The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team enters the week with a 4-5 overall record. Previously, the Hounds fell, 76-70, at Western New Mexico University. ENMU had to cancel a game against Champion Christian University on Dec. 16 and postpone a contest with Cameron University on Dec. 18.
• Against WNMU, four Greyhounds scored double-digits in the contest. Adam Hess led the way with 16 points. Kentrell Pullian added 12 points, while Jose Serrano and Cornell Greenwood netted 11 points each. Pullian and Serrano paced the team with six rebounds apiece. ENMU finished the contest shooting 41.5 percent on the floor, 40.0 from beyond the arc, and 63.6 percent from the free throw line compared to Western’s 43.4 field goal percentage, 42.1 percent from three-point range, and 64.7 percent from the line.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION

Texas A&M International
• The Texas A&M International Dustdevils enter the weekend with an 8-2 overall record.
• TAMIU defeated St. Mary’s, 78-67, on Dec. 18. Three Dustdevils finished in double figures, with junior Jermaine Drewey leading the charge with 22 points on 7-for-11 shooting and 5-for-8 from three, to go alongside four rebounds. Senior Greg Bowie II followed behind with 21 points and four assists, while junior La-Quiem Walker scored 17 points on 7-for-12 shooting with eight rebounds.
• Offensively, Bowie II averages 16.3 points per game, while Drewey adds 13.3 points per game and Walker contributes 11.1 points per game. Defensively, Walker and Tiras Morton pace the team with 5.1 rebounds per game.
