Men’s Basketball  Nicolle Holcomb

The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team heads to UT Permian Basin and Angelo State University to continue Lone Star Conference action this weekend. The Greyhounds take on UTPB on Thursday, January 27 at 6:30 p.m. before facing ASU at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29.

LAST TIME OUT

• The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team enters the week with a 6-9 overall record and 2-4 mark in Lone Star Conference play. ENMU fell, 85-66, to St. Edward’s on Saturday, January 22.
• Against St. Edward’s, Yosnier Cobas led all scorers with a career-high 25 points (11-15 FG, 1-1 3PT, 2-2 FT). He also pulled down five rebounds to go with a block and a steal. Jared Perry netted a career-high 12 points, while Adam Hess was close behind with 11 points. Hess paced the team in rebounds with nine and Perry added eight boards.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION

UT Permian Basin
• UTPB enters the weekend with a 10-8 overall record and 2-4 record in the Lone Star Conference.
• On Jan. 22, the Falcons fell 85-55 to No. 8 West Texas A&M. DaJuan Jones led UTPB with 12 points, while Keyon Craddock added 11 points. Lemmie Howard pulled down six rebounds.
• Jordan Horn paces the offense with 15.6 points per game, while Jones is close behind with 14.1 points per game. Defensively, Howard leads the team on the glass with 4.9 rebounds per game.

Angelo State
• ASU enters the weekend with a 13-4 overall record and 3-2 record in conference play.
• ASU will face No. 1 nationally-ranked Lubbock Christian on Thursday before taking on the Greyhounds. Last time the Rams played, they defeated Cameron, 89-83, on Jan. 22. Tyrell Carrol netted a team-leading 22 points, while Paul Williams was close behind with 21 points. Letaniel Bastain led the way on the boards with 12 rebounds.
• Offensively, Andi Vrapcani leads the team with 15.0 points per game. Five other Rams also average double-digit scoring per contest. Bastian paces the team defensively with 7.9 rebounds per game.
