Nerio Secundino Lucero was born on September 19, 1940 in Anton Chico, New Mexico to the home of Andres and Rufina Lucero. Nerio was one of nine children. Nerio worked hard all his life until he was no longer able. He often spoke about times he drove big dump trucks, painted cars and built just about anything. He loved to go camping and fishing with his brother and being on the boat. He spent a lot of his time in his garage getting into so much stuff. He loved reading and watching westerns and playing board games and dominos with his family. He spoke a lot about growing up with his brothers and sisters, and the memories he had of his mom and dad. If anyone knew Nerio, then you knew he was a talker, but if you needed help he would gladly help out with what he could. He loved his family, but his grandchildren were his heart and soul and he would do anything for them.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Alva Lucero of Clovis, NM, Ray and Deana Lucero of Peoria, AZ and Gale and Stepanie Lucero of Valencia, AZ; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kristina and Joey Dunsworth of Portales and Louella and Robert Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; eleven grandchildren, Jonah (Angelica) Lucero, Rebekah (Franscisco) Jimenez, Gabrielle (Nathaniel) Madrid, Victoria Gonzales, Stephanie (Ismael) Ramirez, Kyler, Luke and Max Dunsorth, Natasha (Andrew) Peru, Celia Lucero and Morgan Shae; and four great-grandchildren, Lorenzo Lucero, Necalli Ramirez, and Alexander and Haley Peru; and a sister, Lucy Chavez of Rio Rancho, NM; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Rufina Lucero, a sister, Jennie Lucero, and two brothers, Virgil and Andy Lucero.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all the staff at the Retirement Ranch and Interim Hospice for taking such amazing care of our Dad.
