Albuquerque, NM – May 23, 2025 – The New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame Announced today the class of 2024 special recognition and scholarship inductees who will be recognized at the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The following special recognition individual and team winners had accomplishments over the past year that showcased the State of New Mexico athletic accomplishments on a statewide, regional, or national level. The special recognition honorees include:

  • The Canyon Club, LLC – Major community impact success story since rescuing Four Hills Country Club in 2013.
  • Rodeo professional Shad Mayfield – 2024 All Around World Champion
  • Boxer Angelo Leo – 2024 WBO featherweight champion
  • Boxer Joscelyn Olayo-Munoz – 16-time girls national champion, 2024 USA Boxing National champion, member of Team USA Boxing.
  • UNM men’s basketball team – Mountain West conference champion
  • UNM men’s basketball player Donovan Dent – All-Mountain West first team
  • UNM Track and Field athlete- Pamela Kosgei – First freshman to win the women’s Mountain West cross country title since 2015
  • High School Basketball player Kenyon Aguino – 2-time New Mexico Gatorade player of the year
  • High school basketball coach Greg Brown – Guided Volcano Vista boys’ basketball to their 3rd consecutive state championship in 2024
  • High school basketball player Sydney Bennaly – New Mexico Gatorade player of the year 2024
  • High School basketball player Bella Hines – Broke many New Mexico state girls’ basketball records, including having over 3000 career points
  • High school track and field athlete Kaselle Davis – New Mexico state champion in 100m, 200m, and high jump
  • Bloomfield High School football team – Won 4A state championship, with an undefeated season, their 2nd state championship in three years
  • Kirtland Central High School women’s basketball team – won 21st 2A state championship since 1979
  • Texico High School football team – Won 2A football championship, with an undefeated season

The following New Mexico athletes competed in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, and are being recognized for this accomplishment

  • Mariah Duran – USA – Skateboard
  • Anicka Newell – Canada – Track and Field
  • Calli Hauger-Thackery – Great Britain – Track and Field
  • Fiona O’Keefe – USA – Track and Field
  • Victor Perez – France – Golf
  • Gavin Green – Malaysia – Golf
  • Manon De Roey – Belgium – Golf
  • Tapiwanashe Makarawu – Zimbabwe –Track and Field
  • Keon Williams – USA – Rugby
  • Alena Sharp – Canada – Golf
  • Ursula Wikstron – Finland – Golf

The New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame will also be awarding scholarships to the following New Mexico high school athletes for their continued success on and off the field

  • Alexis Pacheco – West Las Vegas High School –Three-sport letterman in volleyball, basketball, and softball; 4.0 GPA; 5-time NM state champion
  • Alex Fuentes – Texico High School – five sport athlete, 4.0 GPA, 2-time state champion running back, state champion in 400m relay
  • Kaselle Davis – Las Cruces High School – 2024 Gatorade track and field athlete of the year
