A vacancy in the Ninth Judicial District Court will exist August 7, 2021, due to the retirement of the Honorable Judge Matthew Chandler, effective August 6, 2021. The Ninth Judicial District Court Judicial Nominating Commission will meet in-person beginning at 9:00 a.m. (MT) on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Curry County Courthouse located at 700 N. Main, Clovis, New Mexico to evaluate the applicants for this position.

Inquiries regarding the details or assignment of this judicial vacancy should be directed to the Administrator of the Court. Applicants seeking information regarding election or retention if appointed should contact the Bureau of Elections in the Office of the Secretary of State.

Sergio Pareja, Chair of the Ninth Judicial District Court Judicial Nominating Commission, invites applications for this position from lawyers who meet the statutory qualifications in Article VI, Section 28 of the New Mexico Constitution. The Commission meeting is open to the public. Any individual who wishes to be heard about any of the candidates will have an opportunity to be heard at the meeting. Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear face masks, although they may choose to do so. Face masks must be worn at all times by individuals who are not fully vaccinated.
