Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney Quentin Ray announced today that Jose Guzman pled guilty to Aggravated Fleeing and Tampering with Evidence.
On April 11, 2025, Officers Vasquez and Forguson responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Allsup’s located at 1500 Mabry Drive. When the officers arrived and exited their vehicle, Guzman entered his car and reversed out of a parking space, nearly striking Officer Forguson. He then sped away, turning off his headlights and running multiple stop signs during the pursuit before ultimately crashing into a concrete fence near Hillcrest Park.
DA Investigator Munoz later identified Guzman as the driver after obtaining surveillance video from the Allsup’s store.
The Honorable Judge Fred Van Soelen sentenced Guzman to nine and a half years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections. The case was prosecuted by Special Prosecutor, Brett Carter and Guzman was represented by defense attorney Angelina Baca, Public Defender of Clovis, New Mexico.
