Funeral services for Eleuterio T. Chavez, 53 of Portales, will be at 11:00 AM, Tues., Mar. 6, 2018 at the Foundations of Faith Church, 1301 N. Main, in Portales, with Pastor Raul Ornelas and Pastor Arturo Villa officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Eduardo Chavez-Acosta, Abraham Chavez-Acosta, Daniel Chavez, Jesus Chavez, Reyes Chavez, Enrique Chavez and Manuel Chavez serving as pallbearers. Mr. Chavez will be at Foundations of Faith Church, 1301 N. Main in Portales for visitation from Sunday afternoon until service time.

Eleuterio T. Chavez was born Dec. 28, 1964 in Santa Maria de la Paz, Durango, Mexico to the home of Matiana (Torres) and Eleuterio Chavez, and died at his home in Portales Mar. 2, 2018. In 1985 he came to the US, and made his home in Phoenix until 2002, when he moved to Portales to make his home. On July 16, 1989, in Durango, Mexico he was married to Maria Acosta. While living in Phoenix he worked as a landscaper. After moving to Portales, he was a milker at several different dairies.
Mr. Chavez was a dedicated father and husband, and always enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He was always fixing things around his home. Mr. Chavez liked to keep his home and yard in perfect repair. He and his wife were active in La Puera El Cielo, a new house church ministry in Portales.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Chavez of their home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Eduardo and Jessica Chavez-Acosta, Abraham Chavez-Acosta and Daniel Chavez all of Portales; a daughter and son-in-law, Lorena and Juan Carlos Silva of Portales; three grandchildren, Emmanuel Isaac Chavez, Sebastian Silva-Chavez and Adrian Jacob Chavez; his father, Eleuterio Chavez of Bennejillo, Durango, Mexico; four brothers, Jesus Chavez, Reyes Chavez, Enrique Chavez and Manuel Chavez all of Portales; and three sisters, Gloria Chavez-Torres of Bennejillo, Durnago, Mexico, Maria del Carmen-Chavez of Clovis and Pabla Chavez of Clovis. He was preceded in death by his mother.
