Judith “Judy” Marie (Bate) White was born in Torrington, CT to John C. and Ella (Bodnar) Bate, and died peacefully at her home on Feb. 10, 2019.

She is survived by her husband, John White, two daughters, Carol (David) McDowell and Lisa (Curt) Jaynes and five grandchildren, Brittney and Abby McDowell and Brandon, Kelsey and Ethan Jaynes. Also, a s sister, Nancy (Hal) Lamb and two brothers, John C. (Mary Kay) Bate and Peter Bate, all of Torrington, CT, and several nieces and nephews.
Judy spent her career in the healthcare field and volunteering. She served on the Habitat for Humanity Board and the Meals on Wheels Board. She was an Altrusan where she served in many capacities. She also enjoyed volunteering at Heartland Continuing Care Center in the beauty shop, as well as a mediator at the Magistrate Court in Clovis.
Her greatest love was spending time with her family and attending her grandkids performances and sporting events. Her favorite way to relax was to sit on the beach in South Padre with a good book or bounce in the waves in the Gulf of Mexico.

She was overwhelmed with the love and support from her family and friends, as well as Interim Healthcare during her illness.  Cremation has taken place. At Judy’s request, there will be no formal services. She hopes you will tell a funny story over drinks to celebrate her life. So to honor her, Judy’s family has planned a come and go on her 70th birthday, Tuesday, March 26, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at her home. They would love to visit and celebrate her life with her friends. If you would like, Judy wishes any donations to be made to the Portales Public Library.
