Official Obituary of Steven Gutierrez September 10, 1987 ~ March 9, 2026 (age 38)

Funeral services for Steven Gutierrez, 38, of Portales, will be held at 9:00 AM, Sat., Mar. 14, 2026 at the First Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor James Heredia officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Alonso Munoz, Xavier Cabezuela, Jessie Cabezuela, Jesus Sigala, Cristian Cabezuela, Santiago Munoz, Fabian Munoz, and Julius Sigala serving as pallbearers.  Ben Munoz, Jr., Jimmy Munoz and Tony Munoz will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Steven Gutierrez was born Sept. 10, 1987, in Portales.  He attended the Portales public schools Special Education classes and was a graduate of Portales High School.  Although he had multiple disabilities, he understood much.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching television, and especially watching westerns.  Steven loved to listen to Spanish music, and to go riding in the car.  Among his favorite foods were McDonalds and Burger King hamburgers.  Steven loved sitting outside enjoying nature, and if given a Moroccan he would shake it as long as you left it in his hand.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Cabezuela of Portales; four brothers, Ben Munoz, Jr. and his wife, Maria E. of Portales, Santiago Munoz and his wife, Laura of Clovis, Tony Munoz and his companion Shawna McNeal of Portales and Jessie Cabezuela and his companion, Petra Ponce of Portales; four sisters, Diana Sigala and her husband, Jesus, Joanna Villages and her husband, Reydsel, Maryann Munoz and Geneva Nevarez and her husband, Encarnacio all of Portales; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
