Football is back! Most weren’t sure if we’d see these hardworking teenagers back on a field any time soon. Thankfully, because of a recent release of the COVID vaccine and people’s diligence in following statewide mandates, COVID numbers have dropped and our boys of fall have become the boys of spring!

Friday night lights began last night, March 5th at 7 pm on the turf at Greyhound Stadium in Portales.

Kickoff was the start to a total domination for the Rams over the Moriarty Pintos. By the end of 1, the hometown Rams were up 6-0, and by half, they held their opponent to no points scored.

74-yard kickoff returns for a touchdown by RB Ethan Conrow.

After halftime, the Rams came out with the momentum and scored in both the 3rd and 4th quarters. Portales came out on top of Moriarty, 21-0, holding their opponents to a total shut out.

There were big plays by Quarterback Baylor Diaz, Running Back Ethan Conrow, Quarterback Hagen Rains and Wide Receiver Dason Davis. The defense also deserves some praise for holding the Pintos to a shut out, including an early interception.

The game was an excellent way to start this delayed season. The 1-0 Rams will face the Dexter Devils at home on March 12th at 7 pm in Greyhound Stadium.
