Following the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team’s split against 11th-ranked Angelo State this past weekend, junior right handed pitcher, Austin Paisar, was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Central Region Pitcher of the Week.

The award comes two days after Paisar was chosen as the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Paisar turned in a masterful performance in his first Friday night start of the season. The right-hander struck out a program-record 14 batters in ENMU’s 7-2 win over ASU. Paisar scattered eight hits in the complete-game effort with two walks. It was just the third nine-inning complete game in the LSC this season and his 14 strikeouts were the sixth most by an LSC pitcher this season. Additionally, Paisar threw 145 pitches in the outing, easily the most by a Greyhound pitcher this season.

The Greyhounds return to the diamond on Friday, May 5 at 2 p.m. for the final series of the regular season against Texas-Permian Basin. For all the latest news on ENMU athletics, follow @ENMUBaseball and @ENMUAthletics on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
