Peggy Camille (Williams) Craig June 16, 1946 ~ February 24, 2023 (age 76)

Graveside services for Peggy Craig, 76, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Mon., Mar. 6, 2023 in the Portales Cemetery with Rev Mike McCune officiating.  All of Peggy’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.

Peggy Camille Craig was born June 16, 1946 in Littlefield, TX to the home of Faye (Kinder) and Aaron Jackson Williams, and died at her home west of Portales on the afternoon of Feb. 24, 2023.  Peggy’s family moved to Portales when she was still in school, and she was a 1964 graduate of Portales High School.  On June 20, 1964, she was married to Marvin Lee Craig.  Through the years, Peggy had worked at various jobs.  For a time, she was as a server at the Sands Restaurant.  Later she worked at La Tienda Grocery Store, where she scanned in the various products and marked them for the weekly sales.  When the store closed a number of years ago, Peggy went to work at Heartland Continuing Care Center where she started out working in the laundry, but later worked in the kitchen.  Her last, and favorite job was with her former daughter-in-law, Barbara at the Laundromutt Pet Groomers.  Peggy loved dogs, and consequently she fell in love with many of the animals she helped to groom.  Her favorite dogs were her Yorkies, Mikey and Skittles.

Peggy is survived by a sister, Carolyn (Rance) Baker of TX; a former daughter-in-law, Barbara Craig of Portales; six grandchildren, Dustin (Michelle) Craig, Jennalee Craig, Kory (Megan) Craig, Amanda (John) Little, Matthew (Breanna) Craig and Kaycee (Daniel) May; eleven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren with still another one on the way.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Kevin and Keith Craig a brother, Kenneth Williams, a sister, Janice Davis and by her husband, Marvin Lee Craig, who died Sept 8, 2004.
