Portales Gears Up for the Sparkling Return of Little Miss Merry Christmas

15 Local Girls Compete to Light Up the Town—One Dollar at a Time

Portales, NM — The holiday spirit is alive and well in Portales as 15 bright and enthusiastic young girls compete for the title of Little Miss Merry Christmas! This cherished community tradition is more than just a crown—JP Stone Bank is sponsoring with the Roosevelt County Chamber this festive fundraiser to help deck the streets of Portales with dazzling Christmas decorations.

Each contestant is sponsored by a local business, where collection jars will be placed to gather donations. The girl who raises the most money will be crowned Little Miss Merry Christmas 2025. All proceeds go directly toward enhancing the city’s holiday décor, bringing extra sparkle and cheer to the streets of Portales.

In addition to the collection jars, many of the girls will be hosting their own creative fundraisers—from bake sales and car washes to hot cocoa stands and more. Keep an eye out and support their efforts as they spread holiday joy across town.

Christmas Light Parade Friday December 12^th. 6:00 pm The parade line up will start at 5:30 at the Corner of 2^nd. Street and Ave. O. The parade will travel through town and end up at the corner of Main and 1^st. Street.
Coronation
Friday, December 12th All 15 contestants will ride in the magical Christmas Light Parade. Immediately following the parade, the winner will be crowned in a heartwarming ceremony on the south side of the courthouse.
Holiday Festivities Continue! Stick around after the coronation for a full evening of Christmas carols, food trucks, a hot chocolate station, and the grand lighting of the Western Commerce Christmas Tree at the RCEC corner.
