The Portales Rams left on Friday, November 29 after a supportive showing from the Portales community who lined the street as the bus pulled out of town.

Kickoff for the Class 4A State Championship was at 1 pm on Saturday, November 30 in Bloomfield, NM. Both teams had outstanding records. Portales went into the game 11-1 at seed #2, with Bloomfield at 12-0 at seed #1 for their division.

Portales dominated the entire game. #3 Kellan Hightower was a standout for the Rams, leading them to a victory and the state title.

The weather was windy, much like in our area, which made for a difficult game. Both teams started off slowly with the score at 3-0 midway through the 2nd quarter. The score at halftime was 10-0 for the Rams. After half however, Portales came out of the locker room fighting hard, and ended up adding 13 more points. The defense completely shut out their Bloomfield, allowing for the Rams offense to shine.

The final score of the game was 23-0 for Portales, who won their hard earned state championship trophy on the road!

The State Championship title is the 6th for Portales High School in the history of the school. The boys have played hard together all season and finish with a 12-1 record, a District Champion title , and finally as the NMAA Class 4A State Champions!!

Congratulations Rams & Coach Ramirez!!!!
