Portales traveled to Las Vegas to face West Las Vegas High in a non-conference matchup as their first away game of the season. Kickoff was at 7 PM against the Dons.

Portales was only 1-point ahead at the end of the first quarter, with a score of 7-6. Quickly in the 2nd however, the Rams completed a pass for a touchdown, and made the PAT after, adding 7 to the score. WLV answered with a rushing touchdown however, and, with a quick rushing 2-point conversion, tied the game at 14-14. Portales followed with another touchdown, rushing in for 6, and adding the PAT to take the lead again, and then solidified a dominant lead with one more rushing touchdown before the quarter was over. The teams went into halftime with a score of 28-14.

At the start of the 3rd quarter, on Portales’ first possession, they added a passing touchdown and PAT, upping the score to 35-14.

The momentum continued to swing towards the Rams, who continued to score, while only allowing 2 more touchdowns for West Las Vegas. The Rams took the win after a dominating performance, ending the game 55-30.

The win moves to 3-0 this season. Their next game is on Friday, in Los Lunas at 7 PM against Valencia High School.
