The Portales Rams are headed to the State Championship!  It was perfect football weather as the Portales Rams took the field against the St. Michael’s Horsemen in the 4A semi-final game on Saturday.

In a close repeat of last Saturday’s game against Silver City, the Rams dominated on both sides of the ball.  Unlike the previous week the Rams did not allow the Horsemen to get on the board and walked off the field with a 38-0 win, moving on to the State Championship game to be held here in the ENMU / Ram stadium against the top ranked Robertson Cardinals December 3rd with a 1:30 kickoff.

The Rams defense took advantage of the Horsemen’s air game, picking off four passes.  Rams running back #1, Darion Ontiveros and quarterback #3 Junior Ramirez had two touchdowns each in the first half of the game joined by #44 linebacker Logan McDaniel who picked off a pass and ran for a 34 yard touchdown.  In the third quarter safety #60 Jeremy Karngbaye had a quarterback sack in the end zone putting the last scores on the board for the day.

Going into the State Championship game the Rams are relatively injury free.  This week the Rams will have to work on alignments and assignment and not making errors that result in penalties, which have plagued the Rams this season.
