Obituary

The Rosary for Rita Villa, 91, of Portales, will be recited at 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at St. Helen Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:00 AM. On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. Helen Catholic Church with Fr. Francisco Carbajal officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Henry Salas, Ivan D. Lozano, Cesar Lucero, Fitzgerald Valdez, Silver Lucero, Jr. and Andrew Puebla serving as pallbearers.

Rita (Terrazas) Villa was born on December 10, 1931, in Lajitas, Texas to the home of Mercedes (Terrazas) and Librado Olivas, and died on November 11, 2023, in Portales.

Rita grew up in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico and moved to Portales around 1970.  She met and married Alberto Villa; he passed away in 2002.  Rita was a homemaker who raised seven children.  She enjoyed doing crafts and also loved sewing and crocheting.  She made quilts for her children and for her friends as well.  Rita also liked to cook.  She spent countless hours at the Senior Center exchanging recipes with her many friends there.  Rita also liked singing with her husband and she loved the outdoors.  She enjoyed her flowers and plants and she also had a grape vine.  She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.

Rita is survived by her daughters, Beatrice Valdez of Portales, Raquel Pillado of Portales, Josephine Lozano & husband Marcelino of Midland, TX and Elizabeth Paniagua & husband Juan of Lake Jackson, TX; twenty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alberto Villa; her parents, Librado & Mercedes Olivas; two sons, Jose Luis Pillado and Humberto Pillado, and one brother, Jesus Terrazas.
