Roger McNutt Obituary
Roger Eugene McNutt, 83, of Portales, passed away on October 30, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on March 24, 1943, in St. Francis, Kansas, to the home of Vernie Alma (Pugh) and Richard Leroy McNutt.
Roger attended grade school in Kansas and came to Portales where he went to Jr. High and High School. He met Glenna Mae Caywood in 1959. Roger joined the Air Force in 1961. After the Air Force, he returned to Portales where they got married on May 19, 1962. Roger worked as a John Deere Mechanic for many years until he retired. He was a member of the Goober Gulch Gabers CB Club. He was a self-taught gunsmith; he loved working on guns of all kinds.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife Glenna Caywood McNutt, his brother, Larry McNutt and his sister, Virginia Woods.
He was survived by his daughter, Tammy & Andy Johnson; two granddaughters, Tabitha & Joshua Leonard of Denver, CO and Stephanie Leija of Canyon, TX; three great grandchildren, Jordyn Tayler Leija-Melendez, Zavian Marley Leija-Melendez and Vanelope Kristin Leija-Sanchez, and sister-in-law, Helen & Richard Haptonstall.
