Sergio Rede Mendoza October 7, 1960 ~ February 28, 2026 (age 65)

The Rosary for Sergio Mendoza, 65, of Portales will be recited at 9:00 AM, Mon., Mar. 9, 2026 at St. Helen Catholic Church.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM with Fr. Francisco Carbajal officiating.  Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery.

Sergio Rede Mendoza was born Oct. 7, 1960 in La Garida, Mexico to the home of Ramona (Rede) and Manuel Mendoza, and passed from this life on Feb. 28, 2026 in Portales.  Mr. Mendoza caame to Portales to make his home with his brother, Merced, and for several years he worked as a milker at local dairies.  Eight years ago he went to work as a truck driver at Red Stagg.

On Feb. 14, 1998, here in Portales he was married to Maria Lopez.  Sergio enjoyed going to Clovis to visit his brother, Merced and his nephew at their store.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, George Perez who he loved as if her was his own son.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Alvarez of Portales; his daughters, Amy Lopez and Eva Vallejo both of Portales; his grandson, George Perez; his brother, Merced Mendoza of Clovis; three sisters, Ramona Paz Mendoza of La Garita, Mexico, Pamfila Sanchez of Portales and Martina Mendoza of Rosales, Mexico.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Pilaar Mendoza and Manuel Rede and a sister, Alicia Cardenas.
