A Friendly Reminder from the City
of Portales!

Hey Portales! Here’s a quick splash of news from your City Manager’s Office, wrapped in something a
little more fun than a policy memo (you’re welcome).

Our community has done amazing work following the drought plan and conservation guidance —
and it shows. Thanks everyone sticking to the watering schedule, our water utilization levels have
recently improved. That’s a win worth celebrating!
But… we’re not done yet.

Summer is approaching, temperatures are rising, and every drop still matters. We’re still operating
under Modified Stage 2 Water Restrictions, and your continued teamwork keeps our water system
stable and sustainable.

Here’s Your Friendly Water-Saving Refresher!
Outdoor Watering (Residential)
• No watering between 10 AM and 6 PM.
• Watering is allowed 30 minutes per household per week, between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

• Even addresses: Water Thursday 9 PM → Friday 7 AM
• Handheld buckets and shut-off hoses? Always okay.

reclaimed or effluent.

Why This Still Matters
Portales sits in an arid part of New Mexico — and drought conditions don’t fix themselves. The
behind-the-scenes efforts from City staff, well-service contractors, and water system crews mean
every gallon we save directly protects our local supply going into the hottest part of the year.
And yes… YOU are part of the solution.
Every resident. Every household. Every business. Every single good habit.
Together, we’re not just keeping Portales running — we’re a tiny but mighty part of the global water
conservation success story.

Let’s Keep It Up, Portales!
Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Save water.
And remember — conservation isn’t just a rule…
It’s a team sport. And Portales is winning.
