New Nonprofit Created to Support Children Whose Parents Have
Suffered Catastrophic or Fatal Work-Related Injuries

Albuquerque, N.M. – May 5, 2026 – Workers’ Compensation Association of New Mexico,
serving the workers’ compensation community throughout the state by promoting education,
seminars and conferences, and the Workers’ Compensation of New Mexico Foundation,
supporting the association’s scholarship mission, announce the organizations have merged to
become Kids’ Chance of New Mexico, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing college
scholarships to children whose parents have suffered a catastrophic or fatal work-related injury.
“After 43 years of promoting education on workers’ compensation and 31 years of helping
children whose parents have been severely or fatally injured in a work-related accident, the
association and foundation have merged to combine their resources and create Kid’s Chance of
New Mexico to better help support families in need,” said Brock Carter, board chair for Kids’
Chance of New Mexico. “The new organization will hold its premier workers’ compensation
event in the state later this month and a golf tournament that combines the love of the sport with
the spirit of giving back to support our scholarship mission in September.”

the scholarship program.

Wright Scholarship Awards at its Thursday luncheon. The individual scholarships range between
