Press Release by : New Mexico Senate Republican Caucus
“America will never be the same” was one of the last things Charlie Kirk said on social media before his senseless, vile, and evil assassination at Utah Valley University Wednesday afternoon.
Little did he know just how true some of his final words would become the following day.
He was right; our country will never be the same. On September 10, 2025, the entire world saw the execution of a man who was murdered because of what he believed in. He was taken from us despite truly loving the people with whom he disagreed and despite his commitment to honest dialogue with those that opposed his views. Still, Charlie Kirk motivated a generation, inspiring millions of young people to think for themselves and engage in our great democratic republic while seeking truth in a world of lies.
In today’s modern world, young people are confused, lost, and desperately seeking purpose in an overwhelming sea of distractions and deception. Charlie Kirk generated an immense following by serving as a bright light in a world of darkness. Young people flocked to his events and fervently followed his social media pages, inspired by his poise, respectful demeanor, deep intellect, and profound guidance. Charlie Kirk’s message to the world was one of love– for God, for our country, and even for those who disagree with you.
Sadly, he was killed for sharing that message.
While violence has now silenced his voice, his message is nonetheless louder than ever. Indeed, those who pursue violence will never be successful against those who boldly speak the truth.
However, this tragedy did in fact change our nation. Those who were once intimidated are now even more emboldened to speak out. Those who were fearful have found their courage once again. And those who were labeled by the intolerant left as racists, bigots, and worse are confidently pointing to the truth that “all men are created equal, endowed by their CREATOR with certain inalienable rights.”
As God-fearing conservatives, we acknowledge that we live in a broken world, one in which our message and our advocacy place us directly in harm’s way. Yet, just as Charlie Kirk exemplified, we choose to rededicate ourselves to continue to share truth, faith, hope, and justice, and to never back down from shining a light in the darkness.
God bless Charlie Kirk and God bless the United States of America!
