3/26/2021 | Baseball | Box Score 1 | Box Score 2OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Eastern New Mexico baseball team traveled to Oklahoma Christian for a doubleheader on Friday. The Greyhounds fell 27-7 in the first contest and 6-4 in the second. 

GAME ONE: OC 27, ENMU 7 (7 INNINGS)

The Eagles got the bats going early in the first inning, scoring six runs on six hits including a two-run homer from Michael DiFiore and RBI doubles from Grant Lake and Kevin Collyar.

Oklahoma Christian added five more runs in the second and one in the third to extend the lead to 12-0.

The fourth inning saw two-run home runs from DiFiore and Tanner White as well as solo homers from Coleton Hinkle and Lake while Jake LaMar added a two-run home run and Ryan Walden hit a grand slam in the fifth to make it a 26-0 game.

Eastern broke the shutout attempt in the top of the sixth with four runs, highlighted by singles from Cole LuedekingDaniel Hunt, and Braeton Matthews.

The top of the seventh saw a three-run homer from Rio Granger but Oklahoma Christian ultimately secured the 27-7 victory. 

Offensively, Luedeking paced the Hounds as he went 2-for-4 at the plate. Matthew Kory finished 1-for-2 with a double.

On the mound, James Romero earned the start and was credited with the loss. Fernando Burgos, William McBride, and Robert N

idy all saw time on the hill for Eastern as well.

GAME TWO: OC 6, ENMU 4

Oklahoma Christian once again jumped out to an early lead, scoring a run in each of the first, second, and third innings.

The Greyhounds responded in the top of the fourth with two runs of their own to make it a 3-2 game. Granger got things started with a single down the right field line before Nicholas Tamez hit a two-run home run.

Tamez continued to find success at the plate in the fifth inning when he hit a two-RBI double to give Eastern the 4-3 advantage.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Eagles managed to tally three runs, two of which came on a home run from DiFiore to regain the 6-4 lead.

Granger attempted to get a rally going in the top of the ninth for the Hounds by getting on base with a double, but Oklahoma Christian shut down the rest of the batters to hold on to the win.

At the plate, Granger finished 3-for-4 while Tamez was 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Josh Lewis got the start on the mound. He struck out seven batters while allowing eight hits and four runs in seven innings. Cooper Hamilton finished out the game and was credited with the loss.

Eastern and Oklahoma Christian meet again tomorrow (3/27) at 12 p.m.
