Dennis Lee Pena December 10, 1961 ~ May 4, 2025 (age 63)

The funeral for Dennis Pena, 63, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thurs., May 8, 2025 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Kyler Silva officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with David Pena, Michael Pena, Albert Pena, Robert Pena, Aaron Pena, Ruben Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Jr. and Daniel Pena, Jr. serving as pallbearers.

Dennis Lee Pena was born Dec. 10, 1961 in Portales to the home of Frances (Barela) and Samuel Segundo Pena, and died in Lubbock, TX on May 4, 2025.  Portales has been his home his entire life, mostly working as a carpenter for various contractors.  Dennis was a “Recylcler.”  He would gather various things, repair them, and resell them for a profit.  He also enjoyed working in his yard, but above all, he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Darlyne Pena of Portales; three grandchildren, Brayson and Brighton Lamay and Aydon Pena; five brothers, Robert, Herman, David, Albert, and Michael Pena all of Portales; and a sister, Joann Zapata of Morton, TX.  He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Gloria Pena and by his twin brother, Danny Pena who died Dec. 5, 2021.
