FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Clovis, NM] — The Eastern Plains Council of Governments (EPCOG) has been awarded $60,000 in SB3 funding through the New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) under the Behavioral Health Reform and Investment Act (BHRIA). The funding will support the development of a Behavioral Health Regional Plan for Behavioral Health Region 10, which includes De Baca, Quay, and Harding counties.

This planning initiative will bring together local governments, behavioral health providers, community organizations, and stakeholders to assess regional needs, identify service gaps, and establish coordinated strategies to improve access to behavioral health services across the three-county area. The resulting plan will serve as a roadmap to strengthen systems of care and support long-term regional collaboration.

“The development of a Behavioral Health Regional Plan is a critical step in ensuring our communities have coordinated, responsive, and sustainable behavioral health services,” said Celia Kirkland, Program Director, Rural Behavioral Health Program. “This funding allows us to work collaboratively at the regional level to address shared challenges and plan for meaningful improvements.”

The project aligns with EPCOG’s mission to support regional growth and development by fostering partnerships and advancing planning efforts that respond to local priorities. Work on the plan will begin in the coming months, with opportunities for community input and stakeholder engagement throughout the process.
