PORTALES, NM – Sept. 20, 2022 – Eastern New Mexico University celebrates its 88th Homecoming in 2022. This year’s Homecoming theme is “There’s No Place Like ENMU,” evoking the magical Land of Oz as Eastern welcomes home alumni from far and wide.

Festivities begin online Monday, Sept. 26, as President and Chancellor Dr. Patrice Caldwell welcomes the community to Coffee with the President at 9 a.m. on ENMU’s Facebook page. That evening, students present musical skits in “Song Fest” at 6 p.m. in the Campus Union Ballroom.

An ENMU alumni art exhibition opens in the Golden Student Success Center Runnels Gallery on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Get a live tour of ENMU on ENMU’s Facebook page at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27. The 6th annual Powderpuff Tournament, sponsored by the Associated Students Activities Board at Greyhound Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

On Thursday, Sept. 29, ENMU’s Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking premiers its production of “Wait Until Dark,” at the University Theatre Center. Performances run each night starting at 7 p.m. and conclude with a matinee presentation on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission, $7 for senior citizens ages 60 and older and active military, and free for ENMU students with a valid ID.

Friday, Sept. 30, features the annual Homecoming golf tournament at Colonial Park Golf Course in Clovis, NM. At 10:30 a.m., choir and music alumni gather in Buchannan Hall in the Music Building for a celebration of the life of former choir director and alumnus Dr. George Umberson. An alumni barbecue runs from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Presidential Residence, followed by an ENMU volleyball match vs. St. Mary’s University at 6 p.m. and the annual bonfire and pep rally at 6:30 p.m., both at Greyhound Arena.

Saturday, Oct. 1, features events for alumni, students, friends and family members kicking off with the ENMU Foundation awards breakfast at 8 a.m. which honors prominent alumni and ENMU donors. Homecoming events continue throughout the day with the annual homecoming parade at 11 a.m., the alumni pre-game tailgate party at 3 p.m. and the Homecoming football game at 6 p.m. vs. Central Washington University.
