GAME ONE: CAMERON 3, ENMU 2 (11 INNINGS)

The Aggies took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, which they then extended to a 2-0 advantage later in the seventh inning.

Eastern rallied in the ninth to tie the game up at 2-2 after taking advantage of multiple runners hit by pitches and a wild pitch. The Hounds then shut down the Aggie batters in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.

Cameron managed to get the game winning run across the plate in the bottom of the 11th to secure the 3-2 victory.

Nick Schifttner led the way for the Greyhounds with two hits. Trevor Moses picked up the lone RBI of the game for Eastern.

Josh Lewis got the start on the mound and finished with a 2.82 ERA and four strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Cooper Hamilton finished out the remainder of the game and was credited with the loss.

GAME TWO: ENMU 6, CAMERON 5

Nicholas Tamez gave Eastern an early 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the top of the second inning. It was the junior transfer’s first home run as a Greyhound.

Cameron gained the 3-1 advantage in the third inning, highlighted by a triple from Beau Williams and a solo homer from Jayce Clem.

The Hounds got the bats going in the top of the fifth with a double from Andres QuintanaMatthew Kory then hit a double of his own to send Quintana home and cut the deficit to 3-2.

However, the Aggies saw a two-run home run from Jordan Harrison-Dudley in the bottom of the frame to stretch the lead back out to 5-2.

Eastern got one run back in the sixth inning to close the gap and then Moses tied the game up, 5-5, when he blasted a two-run homer to left field in the top of the seventh.

Cameron continued looking for scoring opportunities but pitcher, Damian Acosta shut them down with four strikeouts across the seventh and eighth innings.

In the top of the ninth, Jack Thompson got things started for the Hounds with a double to center before advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt from Camden Matthews and ultimately rounding home on a sacrifice fly from Moses to take the slim 6-5 lead.

The Aggies attempted a late rally with a two-out double from Cooper Edwards in the bottom of the ninth, but Eastern secured the last out to earn its first win of the season.

Acosta earned the win on the hill with five strikeouts, one hit, and no runs allowed in 2.1 innings of work. Evan Nichols was credited with the loss for Cameron.

Leading Eastern New Mexico offensively were Moses and Tamez. Moses finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, while Tamez was 1-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Overall, seven Hounds registered hits during the win.

Eastern is back in action tomorrow, Feb. 27 for an 11 a.m. rematch at Cameron to decide who will take the series.
