NEW ORLEANS – The Eastern New Mexico track and field team had four standouts selected to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-South Central Region Team on Tuesday. The women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Maijah Mathis, Kandice Miles, Danee Bustos, and Lateria Slaughter earned all-region accolades for the second straight year while Mathis and Miles earned additional honors in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash.

Mathis earned three all-region accolades as she was also named to the All-South Central Region Team in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash on top of the 4×100-meter relay. The relay team currently holds the eighth-fastest time in NCAA Division II after finishing third in the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships with a time of 45.56, which also broke the ENMU school record. Mathis possesses the ENMU school record in the 100-meter with an 11.71, which ranks as the 19th-fastest time in Division II as well as holds the second-best mark in program history in the 200-meter with a time of 24.07, ranking 20th in Division II.

Earning all-region honors in the 200-meter and 4×100-meter relay, Miles currently possesses the 11th-fastest time in NCAA Division II in the 200-meter as her mark of 23.87 not only placed second at the LSC Outdoor Championships, but also topped her own program record. Miles will also be looking to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships in the 100-meter dash as she currently possesses the 22nd-best time in Division II with an 11.73. Miles’ personal best in the 100-meter came at the LSC Championships when she crossed the finish line 11.60, but the mark didn’t qualify for nationals due to an illegal wind reading.

Bustos earned USTFCCCA All-South Central Region honors for the fourth time in her prestigious Greyhounds career and the second time this year after being named to the indoor all-region list. Bustos was an indoor all-region selection in the 200-meter and 4×400-meter relay and competed at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in the 200-meter dash.

Slaughter was selected to the all-region list in the women’s 4×100-meter relay team for the second consecutive year. The junior sprinter helped lead the 4×100-meter relay squad to an eighth place finish at the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, garnering All-American honors.
