On Thursday evening, the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team (23-23) will enter the Lone Star Conference Tournament bracket for the second time in program history. The Hounds will take Wilder Park as the tournament’s fifth-seeded team and take on Angelo State at 6 p.m. MT.

How to Follow the Game
Please visit www.GoBuffsGo.com for ticket information, as top-seeded West Texas A&M will host the tournament and will play the winner of the ENMU/ASU game on Friday. If you are unable to attend the game in person, the contest will be broadcast by the ‘Voice of the Greyhounds’ Dr. Don Elder on KSEL 1450 AM.

The Hounds are paced by LSC batting leader and 2017 All-American Alex DeLaCruz. The senior second baseman is batting .389 with 41 runs batted in and 25 stolen bases. Garlind Webster is close behind, with a .359 batting average and 34 RBIs.

The Hounds 149 stolen bases this season eclipsed the previous record of 98, set in the 1995 season and is the fourth time they reached the 80-steal plateau. The squad’s .895 stolen-base percentage also is a program record. Eastern is also getting the job done with power, as their 39 homers rank fifth in program history.

Inside the Series
Most recently, the teams split a Lone Star Conference series in San Angelo, Texas, with ENMU earning the second doubleheader sweep over the Rams in program history. ASU leads the 2018 season series 7-1, after sweeping a non-conference quartet of games in Portales in early March.

The teams have only played on a neutral field one time. On May 2, 2009, the teams opened the LSC Tournament in Abilene, Texas, with the Rams claiming a 10-4 win. The teams split a four-game series in Portales, NM, that season.
