The Eastern New Mexico University men’s outdoor track & field team is off to a tremendous start this season. Their continued performance has led to national recognition, as the Hounds appeared in the United States Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association national poll for the third consecutive week.
This week, the Greyhound ranked 13th in the poll. Eastern was joined by fellow Lone Star Conference competitors: Texas A&M-Commerce (4th), Angelo State (11th), Texas A&M-Kingsville (14th), and West Texas A&M (17th). The LSC was ranked second in the Conference Index Top Ten.
Eastern already has qualified a number of student athletes for the national championship meet. The quartet of Jacques Hall, Avery Rasher, Julian Coronado and Marcus Parker lead the nation of in the 4x100m relay, while Hall, Rasher Coronado and Travonne Armstead rank seventh. Kenneth Lloyd is ninth in the high jump. Augustus Swanson is currently ninth in the 400m hurdles. Parker also ranks fifth in the 100m dash and fourth in the 200m, while Coronado is 22nd in the country in the 100m
The Eastern New Mexico University outdoor track & field teams will return to action on Friday, to compete in the West Texas A&M Open.
