Janine Faye (Johnson) Major July 15, 1964 ~ August 27, 2025 (age 61)

Janine Faye (Johnson) Major, 61, of Portales, NM, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in her home. She was the wife of W. Anthony Major, Jr. (Tony) to whom she was married for 21 years. Born in Pierre, SD, July 15, 1964, Janine was the daughter of Duane and Marlene (Fodness) Johnson, of Tucson, AZ. She was a graduate of Amphi High School, Class of 1982, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Arizona. A long-time resident of Tucson, before moving to New Mexico in 2009, Janine was a substitute teacher, and especially enjoyed teaching elementary students. Janine was most recently a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roswell, NM.

Survivors in addition to her husband and parents include, son W. Anthony Major, III and his finance Leva Ann Daly of Tucson, AZ., daughter Lindsay (Young) McIntyre and her husband, Lawrence McIntyre III, of Tucson, daughter Jamie Young, of Tucson, sister Charlene (Johnson) Forslund and husband Timothy Forslund of Seattle, WA, sister Nadene Johnston and husband Edward Yurs of Tucson, AZ, brother Jay Johnson and wife Jennifer Johnson, of Tucson, several aunts & uncles, many in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Service: A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. No public calling hours.
