John Alvin Fails, born on Mar 10,1949 in Portales, NM to Alvin and Bernice Fails, passed away on May5, 2026, in Indian Town, Florida. He was 77 years old.

John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp, retiring with the rank of Captain. His distinguished military career took him to various locations, including California, North Carolina, Japan, Hawaii and Florida. His dedication to service and leadership left a lasting impression on those who served alongside him.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Bernice Fails, his beloved wife Susan (Washinton) Fails, and his son and daughter in law Chuck and Tracey Fails.

He is survived by his JD Fails and grandchildren Joleigh and Talon Fails of Hayden, Co. His is also remembered by his stepson Keith Osborne and wife Meghanne of Florida and their children Parker and Gracie. His stepson Justin Welch of Indiana. John’s siblings include brothers Billy and wife Patty Fails of Colorado Springs, Co. Tommy and wife Cindy Fails of Colorado Springs, Co. Ricky and wife Jolene Fails of Clovis, NM. and sister Janie and husband John Stokes of Portales, NM.

Cremation has taken place and burial will be the Portales Cemetery June 20, 2026
