Jolene Shirley passed away peacefully in her home in Clovis, NM on October 23rd, 2021 surrounded by her family. Jolene was born on November 24, 1937 in Portales, NM to the home of Jack and Dorothy (Christopher) Clark. She lived on a farm close to Rogers, NM until she was in third grade when the family moved to Portales. She attended school at Brown elementary at that time and then went on to graduate from Portales High School in 1955. There she met her high school sweetheart, Delman Shirley and they married on December 31, 1955.

Jolene has fond memories of working at Portales Hardware and the Credit Union until the Fall of 1960. At that time, the couple moved to Raton where Delman acquired a teaching job.  They lived in Portales and Cimmaron and then eventually moved to Clovis for Delman’s career in teaching. They adopted their son Monty in 1963 and their daughter Janet in 1967. Jolene was able to stay at home with her children for many years and then began working for Westbrook Glass Company as the bookkeeper. There she would continue to work for forty years. Jolene loved her job at Westbrook and met many new people and made many friends there.

Jolene and Delman spent many good times with her sister Carol and her husband Henry and her brother Dave and his wife Bev camping in their RVs. They went to Colorado, Texas and many places in NM. Through the years they built many fond memories of their times together.

Jolene was a dedicated wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family called her  “MoMo,” and they meant the world to her. She loved to cook for her family on Sundays. She enjoyed spending time with her sister shopping, cooking, having coffee and endless hours of conversations over the phone. She also spent many hours visiting with her brother and close cousin Pansy. Her pride and joy in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very involved in each of their lives and loved them all dearly.

Delman and Jolene are members of Sandia Baptist in Clovis, NM. Jolene loved our Lord Jesus Christ. Her favorite pastor was Charles Stanley. The family has assurance knowing that she is with our Lord experiencing  the joy and peace that only Heaven can give.
